Hi Im Sofia, I moved here from Connecticut to go to Pratt Institute, where I majored in jewelry and metalsmithing in the sculpture department. My first job out of school was designing costume jewelry for department stores. I grew an appreciation for jewelry as a business while cultivating my own style, and eventually began making my own work full time.
What has been your greatest struggle/obstacle so far?
Finding ways to produce all the work I keep in my imagination.
What would you say is a large key to running a small business in a large city like NY.
Remember the importance of your community. Work with people you love and trust, and help one another. Don’t forget to sleep and to take care of your body and mind.
If you could go back in time, what advice would you give yourself about starting your brand and business?
Be patient, and don’t stop trying because it will get easier.
