Purposefully understated with subtle details, Abacus Row is the kind of timeless and well-made jewelry you never want to take off. While pursuing a career in environmental conservation, Christine Trac became inspired by the maker culture of San Francisco and began to craft Abacus Row.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT LIVING AND WORKING IN SAN FRANCISCO?
"The incredible parks, all the public access along the water, and all the outdoor hiking options close by make San Francisco a really amazing place to live. But I think its the people that make this city a really great place for me to work. This city has an appreciation for artists, designers, and makers that I am truly grateful for, and it has a great community of creative entrepreneurs that I continually feel inspired and supported by."
WHAT ARE SOME ACTIVITIES YOU ENJOY OUTSIDE THE REALM OF DESIGN?
"I love learning languages, traveling abroad, and exploring the backcountry. I think these things satisfy my desire to learn as much as possible about different cultures and about the places I go (and have yet to go). I gain new and different perspectives from each of these things. I love foreign languages and travel because they're filled with opportunity to experience something very different from the everyday, and I love the backcountry because it gives me the space to step back and reflect."

WHERE ARE YOUR FAVORITE LOCAL SPOTS TO KICK BACK AND RELAX?
"If there's time to kick back and relax, I like to head over to Fort Mason. It's right next door and it's right along the bay. Lots of wonderful relaxed options there - picnic in the grass, stroll along the piers, or hang out in the community garden."
ANY CAFES AND RESTAURANTS YOU FREQUENT?
"Right now, I'm over at Saint Frank Coffee on Polk Street pretty regularly, and I make my way over to Le Marais at least once a week to pick up bread and pastries. I love Hon's Wun-tun house and Bob's Donuts and would be at those places more often if they were just a little bit closer."

FAVORITE PLACES TO FIND DESIGN INSPIRATION:
"The bay. I work all day facing the window out towards the water. Though its the same body of water that I look at everyday, its dynamic and it brings through something new everyday."
FAVORITE PLACES TO SHOP:
"I'm doing most of my shopping in Hayes Valley these days. I'm over there fairly regularly meeting up for coffee dates or taking classes at Makeshift Society."

Makeshift Society Brooklyn opens on May 1st!
"With all of the great shops down there I inevitably end up doing a bit of shopping before or after. I really love Welcome Stranger for menswear (for myself) and Reliquary for just about everything they carry. There's also a Stevan Alan and an Alternative Apparel store that I make my way into. Most recent purchase, a pair of Kupuri heels from Gimme Shoes following an afternoon coffee date."
